Independent Cargo Inspection Across Asia Pacific Ports

VT Logistic Limited is the Asia Pacific inspection subsidiary of Captain Logistics. Registered in Hong Kong, the company carries out independent quantity and quality survey work at the region's petroleum, chemical and bulk terminals, and at the anchorages where much of the East's transhipment business is done.

Cargoes moving between the Gulf, the Far East and South East Asia change hands more than once in transit. VT Logistic exists so that each of those custody transfers — ship to shore, ship to ship, or terminal to terminal — is measured, sampled and documented by the group's own surveyors rather than taken on trust.

Role Within The Group

Port inspection & cargo survey — Asia Pacific

What The Company Does

VT Logistic is appointed as the independent inspector on cargoes loading, transhipping and discharging throughout the region. The company's surveyors attend on behalf of traders, terminal operators, owners and charterers, and report on what the cargo actually is and how much of it there is.

  • Ship & shore quantity survey — vessel ullage and on-board quantity, shore tank gauging, and full outturn calculation to standard conditions.
  • Draft surveys — displacement surveys for dry and bulk parcels at berth and at anchorage.
  • Ship-to-ship transfer supervision — attendance at STS operations and transhipment anchorages, including pre-transfer checks and mooring master liaison.
  • Sampling & analysis — representative sampling, sample custody and sealing, and coordination with independent laboratories in the region.
  • Bunker quantity survey — verification of bunker deliveries, including density, temperature and volume checks before and after transfer.
  • Condition & suitability inspection — tank and hold cleanliness, previous cargo verification, and pre-loading approval.

Ports & Terminals Covered

The company services the group's cargo movements across the following Asia Pacific regions, attending berth, terminal or anchorage as the operation requires.

How An Inspection Is Handled

  • Nomination — vessel, parcel, terminal and specification are received; a surveyor is assigned and port entry arranged, including anchorage access where needed.
  • Pre-transfer — tank suitability and previous cargo checks, shore tank gauging, line and manifold verification.
  • During transfer — continuous attendance with running samples, temperature and rate logs, and immediate reporting of any stoppage or exception.
  • Post-transfer — closing gauges, outturn calculation, sample sealing and dispatch to the laboratory.
  • Reporting — preliminary outturn issued on completion; full certificates and time sheets follow with the analysis results.

Standards & Safety

Measurement and sampling follow recognised international practice for petroleum and bulk cargoes, including API MPMS and equivalent ASTM and ISO methods, alongside the port and terminal rules in force at each location.

  • Risk assessment and terminal induction before every attendance
  • Full PPE, gas detection and safe access discipline, including launch transfers
  • Calibrated equipment with maintained certification records
  • Independence from the commercial parties to every transaction

Our wider commitments are set out in the group Health & Safety Policy and Social Policy.
